The Banana Tree is an English speaking private residence overlooking the bay between Floripa and the mainland.  The house is available for short term rentals during the Brazilian summer and long term rentals during the winter. We also offer bed and breakfast accommodation during the spring and summer (November to April)

The house has four guest bedrooms, two of which share a large sea facing balcony. All of the rooms have been recently decorated using reclaimed Brazilian wooden furniture and paintings by local artists. A large shared living area downstairs leads through to a garden, barbecue area and sundeck, and guests can access the beach directly through the garden.

The house is located in the pretty fishing village of Sambaqui on the north west of the island.

What we offer

Our aim is to help our guests enjoy the best the island has to offer, in a relaxed, sociable atmosphere.

If you choose to rent the whole house, then we will check you in and show you around before leaving you to enjoy your new home-from- home! All the basic comforts you would expect from your own home are provided. The house sleeps up to 10 people (8 adults and 2 children).

If you'd prefer to stay with us on a bed and breakfast basis, then you can make yourself equally at home in the communal areas and garden. A continental style breakfast of fresh fruit, cereals, cheese, bread, juice, coffee & tea are served daily on the patio.

If you need help planning your trip, then we will always be happy to point you in the right direction, either before or after you arrive. Maps and information are provided for all our guests.

Your hosts

We both have wide experience working in travel, tourism and customer service industries. Ian is a qualified microlight flying instructor and tandem hang glider operator, and is an experienced windsurfer and kite surfer. (click here for more info about hang gliding or microlighting in the UK.) Anna’s interests are more of a cultural bent, and we can guarantee you plenty of books to read if that’s your thing.

Banana Tree cats

We have a history of taking on cats who have been abandoned in Sambaqui, nursing them back to health and often finding them new homes. Marmaduke and Bruna are our current residents at the Banana Tree, and live downstairs in the house. Because the house is tiled throughout, we rarely encounter problems for people with allergies, but please let us know if you have any concerns.
